Monthly "Lunch with the
President"
Since 1999, no less than the President &
CEO, Mr. Antonio Moraza, shares informal lunches with around
10-15 employees. The activity was created to provide a venue for
employees and supervisors to freely express any concern directly to
the president himself.
Held
once every quarter, the "Lunch with the President" is
conducted both in Cebu and Iligan offices. To make the lunches a
truly free venue for employees to raise concerns to the president,
all managers are excluded from the meetings. Participants are
randomly selected by Human Resources from the list of employees.
Monthly Labor Management Council
Meeting
Every month, a Labor
Management Council (LMC) meeting is held comprised of Mr.
Reano Gumalo, Vice President for Operations, together with
the Plant HR Manager and other officers of the PILMICO labor
union group, Pilmico Employee's Association (PEA).
Formed in 1993, the LMC's main objective is to provide a
venue for open and sincere communication to resolve issues between
labor and management.
The
practice has since produced a marked improvement on labor-management
relations. There have been no notices of strike or lock-out in the
past seven years. Moreover, the Grievance Committee has not been
convened to resolve conflicts in the past four years. The speedy
completion of the latest CBA negotiation last May 10, 2000 was
concluded in a record of only one and a half days.
