<< Our Social
Commitment
Last September 7, 2003 marked Pilmico’s 41st year of providing the
Filipino nation with quality flour, yeast and bakery ingredients. In
line with the company’s mission on corporate social responsibility,
the Pilmicans celebrated their anniversary with a treeplanting
activity in Iligan and an Outreach program in Cebu.
Pilmico Foods Corporation has gone a long way since it first started
its milling operations in Kiwalan Cove, Iligan City in 1962. Then
known as Pillsbury-Mindanao Flour Milling Co., Inc., its first
commercial bag of flour called “BATTLESHIP” came off the production
line on September 7th of that year. The pan de sal from the test
bake passed with flying colors, with the able assistance of Herman
Mohl from TPC, USA. Thereon, specialty product lines were also
introduced bannered by the popular Pillsbury brand name Hungry Jack.
Pilmico further expanded its operations with the inauguration of the
New Yeast Plant in 1983, adding Diamond Active Dry Yeast, Diamond
Confectioner’s Sugar and Diamond Baking Powder to its list of
product lines.
The 1990s bore witness to a lot of changes as the company became
fully-Filipino owned when Pillsbury Co. sold all its shares to
Aboitiz and Company. The name of the company was then changed to
Pilmico Foods Corporation; Pillsbury became the popular Wooden
Spoon; while Hungry Jack became Home Style. In 1995, Pilmico entered
into a joint venture with Burns Philp of Australia to form
Pilmico-Mauri Foods Corporation, now a proud manufacturer and
distributor of high quality yeast and bakery ingredients under the
Diamond and Mauripan brands.
After forty-one years of service and numerous awards and citations,
Pilmico maintains a strong presence in a highly competitive market.
Under the dynamic leadership of Antonio Moraza and a professional
management team, Pilmico Foods Corporation remains steadfast in
their commitment to provide quality foods to the customer’s total
satisfaction.
