Empanada

Ingredients

 

Gold Star flour

220 grams

Refined sugar

2 tbsp

Iodized salt

½ tbsp

Shortening

1/4 cup

Water

70 grams
   


Procedure:
 

  1. Mix all ingredients. Knead together briefly so that the dough will just hold together.
  2. Roll dough out on a lightly floured board to circles about 3-4 inches in diameter.
  3. Place a spoonful of empanada filling of your choice on one side of the circle. Moisten the edges of the circle with a small amount of water and fold the dough over the filling to make a half circle. Press the edges together to seal.
  4. Fry at medium to high heat until golden brown.
