Pilmico gives assistance to Typhoon-hit areas in Central Luzon

Pilmico distributes relief assistance to areas in Central Luzon greatly affected by Typhoon Karding last October 1.

Last October 1, 2022, Pilmico Animal Nutrition Corporation (Pilmico), together with Aboitiz Foundation Inc., donated 800 relief packs to areas affected by the recent Typhoon Karding. The storm hit the country last September 25 and 26, leaving Central Luzon severely devastated.

Volunteer team members of Pilmico help pack the relief goods distributed in areas of Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, and Pangasinan.

As most of Pilmico’s farms and facilities are also located in this area, the food and agribusiness arm of the Aboitiz Group responded to their communities immediately. Teams from the Meat, Feeds, and Farms divisions led the relief operations and packed the goods. Each bundle included essentials such as rice, water, canned goods, noodles, biscuits, and coffee packed in a reused katsa packaging from Pilmico flour.

A few team members from the company’s subcontract agency who were also affected by the typhoon also received relief packs from Pilmico.

“When Typhoon Karding hit, we knew we had to respond quickly, especially as the surrounding communities near our farms and facilities were badly affected. With the help of Pilmico’s volunteers who dedicated their time to helping pack relief goods, we were able to distribute them within the week. The value of teamwork was truly present during this time of need. We also extend our gratitude and appreciation to the members of the Philippine Army for assisting us in this endeavor,” said Joeben Gamatero, Pilmico Vice President of Brand, Marketing, and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Cristy Angeles, Mayor of Tarlac City, expressed her gratitude to Pilmico for their assistance. “Pilmico Foods Corporation – Your partner for growth at partner din natin sa pagtulong at pangangalaga sa kapakanan ng ating kapwa. Buong pusong pasasalamat po ang nais naming banggitin sa inyong ibinigay na food packs, our Good Samaritan!!!
