From a single mill to a regional force:
From Iligan to Asia: Pilmico’s 63-Year Journey of Growth and Quality
Nestled in a cove within the city of Iligan, Misamis Oriental, a flour mill began producing 12,000 bags of flour each day—a facility that would lay the foundation for decades of growth. Established in 1962 as Pilsbury-Mindanao Flour Milling Corporation, we are now known as Pilmico Foods Corporation (Pilmico).
For 63 years, we have grown beyond flour milling, expanding into agribusiness and food production. From our beginnings in Iligan, we have become an integral part of the Philippine food industry, shaping the value chain from mill to meal.
Humble Beginnings from the Mill
From the very beginning, we embraced innovation. A key breakthrough came when we transformed rice husks, once a byproduct of flour milling, into an essential ingredient of animal feeds. This innovation not only reduced waste but also created a new growth engine for us: the establishment of our feed milling business and its expansion beyond Mindanao to Tarlac.
Bread and Beyond
Today, we are proudly recognized as one of the Philippines’ top flour manufacturers, supporting bakeries and businesses nationwide. Beyond flour milling, we have also ventured into animal feed manufacturing through Pilmico Feeds, commercial pork and egg production with Pilmico Farms, and meat processing through Tarlac Meatmasters. Each venture brought us deeper into the food value chain, allowing us to evolve from a flour producer to a trusted partner in feeding Filipino families and serving communities through restaurants, groceries, food establishments, and more.
Quality Consciousness Week in Pilmico, Iligan

With over six decades of experience, we have always placed quality at the core of our operations. Each year, we mark our anniversary with Quality Consciousness Week — a weeklong celebration with activities that reinforce our unwavering commitment to providing safe and high-quality products to customers.
From September 9 to 12, 2025, we continued this tradition with activities to inspire learning and teamwork: quiz games such as Battle of the Brains and What Hafen Velah? Spotting bad practices in the mill, designed to test knowledge and highlight good practices, a bakery training for employees and their dependents, teaching practical baking skills for livelihood use, and, recognition of the best Quality Circle and Kaizen projects, showcasing innovations that teams implemented to drive continuous improvement. A Quality Circle is a group of employees who work together to identify problems and implement sustainable solutions, while Kaizen is a Japanese philosophy centered on continuous, gradual improvements that lead to lasting positive change.

Looking Ahead
Since 1962, we have had bigger ambitions—to nourish not just the Philippines but all of Asia through the growing network of Aboitiz Foods. From mill to meal, we, at Pilmico, have supported communities across the nation, and today, Aboitiz Foods stands as the brand that unites them all. And it all began with Pilmico.
