Championing animal health through awareness, education, and community support
True nourishment extends beyond the bag; it thrives on shared knowledge and collective action.
Guided by its brand promise, “Together, We Nourish the Future,” Aboitiz Foods, through its subsidiary Pilmico Foods Corporation (Pilmico), supported initiatives across the Philippines that promote animal health and biosecurity and support livelihoods.
Embodying the core value of responsibility, Pilmico worked alongside local governments and communities to champion responsible animal care, livestock production, and disaster resilience – bringing its commitment to creating shared value through knowledge-sharing, community empowerment, and volunteerism.
Supporting rabies awareness and prevention
Rabies remains a public health concern in the Philippines, with hundreds of deaths recorded each year despite being a preventable disease.
As part of the nationwide observance of Rabies Awareness Month last March, Pilmico supported local government units and veterinary offices in several communities across Mindanao in raising awareness on the importance of pet vaccination, responsible pet care, and immediate medical attention for animal bites.
From Kalibo, Aklan, and Kabacan, Cotabato, to Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, and the Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte, Pilmico donated Maxime pet food and participated in veterinary missions, pet vaccination drives, and information campaigns, promoting safer communities for both animals and people.
Empowering farmers, safeguarding livelihoods

The journey toward a food-secure future begins with the health and well-being of the animals within the agricultural ecosystem. Strengthening disease prevention helps ensure a safe and sustainable food value chain while supporting the livelihoods of backyard farmers.
Continuing its efforts to empower livestock communities through education and knowledge-sharing, Pilmico partnered with the Samal City Veterinary Office for a two-day Seminar Blitz on animal health management, disease prevention, and responsible backyard livestock production.
The company’s veterinarians, territory business managers, and animal production specialists led the seminars from February 3 to 4, 2026, bringing together barangay officials, backyard swine raisers, and local stakeholders across all 23 barangays.
“We believe prevention is always better than a cure. We conduct these seminars to help every farmer gain confidence to minimize losses and maximize herd performance,” said Pilmico Veterinary Services and Technical Specialist Dr. Jayenne Daladar, adding, “Through knowledge-sharing, we are building a foundation of trust that drives higher productivity, increased income, and a more sustainable future for our farming communities.”

Similarly, Pilmico conducted a series of African Swine Fever (ASF) awareness seminars in Baybay City, Leyte, on February 28 and March 7, 2026, in partnership with the City Agriculture Office. Reaching over 300 participants from several barangays, the sessions focused on strengthening biosecurity practices, improving disease awareness, and promoting responsible livestock management among backyard raisers.
One farmer remarked, “The animal health seminar was a huge help because we really learned the right methods, especially regarding pig nutrition and strengthening the biosecurity of our individual facilities. We are now confident to continue our business because we know how to handle diseases such as ASF and to protect our pigs from getting sick.”
Extending post-disaster support to animals
Beyond education initiatives, Pilmico also extended assistance to animals affected by Typhoon Basyang in Iligan City.
The company provided three 50-kilogram bags of hard SBF horse feed to help sustain livestock and companion animals impacted by the typhoon. The Iligan City Veterinary Office expressed appreciation for the support, recognizing the role of partnerships in helping communities care for animals during times of crisis.
“Through Pilmico’s support, we’re able to enhance our programs and services, reaching more beneficiaries and creating a meaningful impact on both animals and the public,” said Dr. Oza Mae Salinas, Iligan City Veterinary Office Officer-in-Charge.
From supporting nationwide health campaigns to mobilizing localized biosecurity seminars and disaster relief, Aboitiz Foods translates corporate values into measurable community impact. By bridging the gap between industry expertise and grassroots need, the company continues to empower its partners and their communities to build a more resilient, food-secure future together.
